Sarah has 15 years post qualifying experience within various Children and Families settings.  Sarah started her career in a Child Protection and Children in Need Team. This entailed supporting children and their families through complex assessment, inclusive of parenting capacity, mental health, substance misuse and domestic violence.  Sarah has experience of relevant court work inclusive of private family law and care proceedings.  Sarah was then employed by a fostering and adoption service undertaking recruitment and assessment of potential foster carers and adopters.  Sarah has worked as a supervising social worker providing support and guidance to ensure the care children received was of a high standard and the carers providing such care were equipped and able to do so. Sarah became a team manager in the Fostering and Adoption Service, overseeing supervision of social workers and developing the service accordingly.  For the last five years, Sarah has worked as a team manager in a disabled children’s service, where she manages services that promote young people’s independence, employment opportunities and individual goal and outcome setting.  Sarah has experience of working closely with colleagues in health (Continuing Care), occupational therapists, education and social care to support and enhance the individual’s life.  Sarah has experience of working with complex health and disability.  She recently co-worked with specialists in health and occupational therapists in providing physically disabled young people with a fully adapted bungalow where they received overnight breaks.   Sarah is a registered manager with the Care Quality Commission (CQC, a body that inspects the quality and provision of safe, effective, responsive, caring, and well-led).  Before qualifying, Sarah’s work involved supporting young carers and adults with dementia.
