Claire qualified in 2003 with a 2.1 in Occupational Therapy (OT) (BSc Hons) from Brunel University, London. She has worked as an Occupational Therapist for the NHS and my private practice. The majority of Claire’s clinical experience has been with children and adults with complex needs.
Claire’s caseloads have included, amongst other diagnoses, autistic spectrum disorders, developmental coordination disorder and attention deficit disorder.
Since completing her Sensory Integration training, Claire has been working for her own limited company with children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy and developmental coordination disorder, assessments and therapy using the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT).
Helen Sansome is a Registered General Nurse with 25 years post registration experience in Clinical Practice, having qualified from the Nottingham School of Nursing (now Nottingham University) in 1992.
Helen has experience in a number of disciplines including cardiac, intensive care, mechanical ventilation, gynaecology, elective orthopaedics, ENT, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. As an experienced theatre sister she supported the team who set up the first De Vinci Robot to be used in a District General Hospital, in order to perform robotic assisted, minimal invasive pelvic surgery.
Helen is also an approved DWP (PIP) Disability Assessor, undertaking functional assessments of adults with a wide range of complex physical and mental health conditions which impact on their daily living and mobility activities, in order to provide advice to the Department for Work and Pensions on their eligibility for Personal Independence Payments. Evidence gathered at assessment is cross reference with supporting documentary medical evidence, which is critically analysed in order to produce a detailed report for the DWP. The reports are produced to specific quality standards and within finite time scales
Nikki Sherman is a Case Manager & Expert Witness for adult and paediatric catastrophic injury cases. Nikki has been a clinical case manager since 2013 focusing on brain injury, cerebral palsy, and major trauma in adult and paediatric cases. Having completed a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Boston University, USA, in 1994, Nikki worked as a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Neurological and Complex Rehabilitation for over 10 years. Her clinical experience focused on stroke, traumatic brain injury, progressive neurological disorders, and major trauma. Nikki has vast experience evaluating care needs and managing care packages as well as establishing and coordinating multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programmes.
Alison Conway is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as both a Registered General Nurse and an Independent Nurse Prescriber. She has over 30 years’ clinical experience in both the NHS acute sector and the community, caring for adults and children. She is an experienced expert witness having completed a number of liability and quantum reports for both Claimant and Defendant. Her expertise is wide ranging and covers both medical and nursing negligence alongside assessment and care reports required for all disability, injury or illness as a result of road traffic accidents, accidents at home and at work. These disabilities include paraplegia, tetraplegia, catastrophic injury, cerebral palsy and neuromuscular disease. Alison has particular expertise in respiratory and thoracic care and management, including tracheostomy, ventilation and occupational lung disease.
Toby is an independent consultant social worker with over 27 years’ of experience working with children and adults in the field of disability. He has substantial experience of a wide range of presenting needs.
Toby has gained a thorough understanding of assessing the needs of children who were deemed either in need, or at risk, in his statutory and private roles. As a team manager and chairperson for children in need and child protection meetings, he reviewed support packages for vulnerable children in the local authority.
Penny Wright qualified as a paediatric nurse at the Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital in 1972, and then went on to do her general nurse training at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford qualifying in 1974.
Mrs Wright also has a Diploma in Obstetric Nursing and a Diploma in Asthma Care. She has been trained as a trainer of First Aid by the Red Cross. She has an interest in sports injuries and has attended many courses.
Sally Plumb is a Registered Nurse with 22 years experience. She has sound general nursing skills which span critical, acute, rehabilitation, palliative and community care.
Sally completed a Masters in Professional and Policy Studies, with a dissertation focusing on the unmet rehabilitation needs of stroke patients, and consolidated this by clinical practice within a medical and orthopaedic rehabilitation ward, and then a Stroke Unit. Sally completed a period of research at the Nottingham Stroke Research Unit undertaking patient assessments to better understand the experience of disability and interface with statutory health provision, and gained a number of publications to her name.
Lisa Green is an Occupational Therapist with over 23 years of experience having qualified from the University of Derby in 1993. She is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists. Lisa has worked in the NHS and within a Local Authority setting gaining extensive experience of working with adults and children with highly complex disabilities.
Sarah is an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience working in the field of disability. She has extensive experience of working with adults and children with a wide range of complex disabilities.
