Expert Witness

What is an Expert Witness?
An expert witness is a person whose level of specialist knowledge or skill in a particular field qualifies them to present their opinion about the facts of a case during legal proceedings.

The role of an expert witness is to help the court to decide issues that are beyond its technical knowledge or expertise.

An expert witness has an overriding duty to the court to be independent and objective. The Civil Procedure Rules 1998 govern the conduct of Litigation in the civil courts and place specific requirements on the form and contents of expert reports.
