Accommodation
Reports

Within our network of associate accommodation expert witnesses, we have architects and building surveyors who are able to provide an accommodation report following an assessment of the current and future accommodation needs of the Claimant. Because of their extensive and diverse experience, they can adopt a creative and innovative approach in finding the right solution for each individual Claimant.

The accommodation report will take into account the Claimant’s clinical needs and limitations, family preference and the practical realities of their current home, in view of the range of challenges they face.

All appropriate options are considered by the associate accommodation expert witness, including adaptations to the existing property, new build requirements and the purchase or adaptation of an alternative property following the ruling in Swift v Carpenter (2020), with reference to relevant building regulations, planning consents and other professional obligations.

Our accommodation experts have experience in:

  • Performance of architects and contractors regarding design and construction defects
  • Conservation building techniques
  • Working with amputees, wheelchair users and clients with profound learning and physical difficulties as well as Spinal Cord Injurys
  • Minor and major refurbishment work
  • Historic buildings
  • Legislative and regulatory standards
  • Building pathology and building limitations
  • Inclusive and adaptive design
