John Carlile

John studied Architecture at Edinburgh University and completed his practice qualification in Edinburgh with Sir Basil Spence Glover and Ferguson. He has been a member of the Royal Institute of Architects (RIBA) and a Registered Architect since 1980. He has devoted 27 years to specialising in the provision of accommodation for adults with special needs, in centres throughout the UK, during his tenure as Director with a national charity.

John’s experience has included all aspects of property development in this field including property and land purchase, negotiation of favorable long term leaseholds, property modification at all levels and the design of large new build multiple occupancy projects. His UK work was complemented for a 10 year period with similar work for an Icelandic charity.

Jane Toplis

ane has specialised in the field of accommodation for a wide range of claimants; including wheelchair users, amputees, claimants with profound learning and physical difficulties, claimants with vision impairments and a range of other permanent disabilities. Some of these claimants have been based outside the UK in France, Germany and the Netherlands. She has also acted as an Expert on cases brought under the Disability Discrimination Act (now known as the Equality Act).

Jane is a Consultant Member of National Register of Access Consultants (NRAC) and has acted as a Specialist Access Assessor for the Arts Council, Heritage Lottery Fund and Civic Trust.
