Claire Ashton

By Bush & Company

Upon qualification, Claire worked with South Manchester University Hospital Trust, where she gained experience in the areas of neurology and orthopaedics, in both acute and rehabilitation settings. In 1999, Claire gained a promotion into a more senior position, working in the community in an interdisciplinary community rehabilitation team. Here she gained valuable knowledge and experience in the assessment and rehabilitation of people with complex needs, and was also encouraged to work autonomously as a community practitioner, liaising with the multi-disciplinary team and also with other statutory and charitable bodies where necessary in order to assist her clients to attain their optimal functional level.

Claire left her role as clinical lead in May 2015 and now works as an independent practitioner in the private sector, providing wheelchair, seating and postural management solutions to clients with complex needs.

In her role as care and occupational therapy expert witness, Claire has worked on cases including traumatic and orthopaedic injuries and negligence, acquired brain injuries and urological problems, amongst others.
