Susan’s career as an occupational therapist spans over 30 years. She began in general medicine before moving on to spend ten years working in acute psychiatry. She was responsible for the setting up and running of a ‘direct referral from GP to therapist’ project whilst at the Whittington Hospital, which focused on teaching social skills for people experiencing low level depression as a result of social isolation. She developed a particular interest in group therapy work and co-ran a Yalom based psychotherapy group for outpatients. Susan went on to train in cognitive behavioural therapy and bereavement counselling.
She has extensive experience and knowledge working with a broad spectrum of disability and disease; ranging from neurological conditions, trauma, amputees, cerebral palsy, to head injuries and spinal injuries. She was the lead for assessment of paediatric equipment when working at Haringey Social Services.Download CV
