Jayne Foley

By Bush & Company

In her early career, Jayne joined a busy District Nursing Team. The skills obtained in this acute environment were not wasted and it soon became apparent that Jayne was set on a trajectory to lead the burgeoning teams in primary care that were synonymous with GP fundholding. This involved leading and developing an integrated team of both District Nurses and Practice Nurses. Jayne was responsible for both qualified Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers, within a busy urban practice setting.

Jayne undertook the national leadership programme to support her development and was also given the Practice Educational Coordinators role for the PCT; organising and advising Nurses in relation to professional development and education and health care Support Workers (via NVQ). This role subsequently led to a secondment to a local University to teach undergraduate pre-registration students, where she was fortunate enough to undertake research into “how students learn in a simulated environment”. This descriptive study was timely and preceded the advent of the NMC developing clinical skill clusters.

Jayne has a special interest in patient safety; risk management and wound management and can complete liability reports in these areas.
